Angels at the plate: Kendry Morales hit an RBI triple to plate
the Angels' first run in the fourth inning and scored on an RBI single
by Howard Kendrick. Gary Patchett then hit a run-scoring double before
Maicer Izturis drove home two runs with a single to complete the
Angels' five-run fourth inning. Cory Aldridge hit his second home run
of the spring, a solo shot in the seventh inning.
White Sox at the plate:
Jordan Danks led off the game with a
single and scored the game's first run on a wild pitch with two outs.
The White Sox then broke out for four runs in the second with an RBI
triple by Josh Kroeger, an RBI double by Stefan Gartrell and a two-run
homer by Gordon Beckham, his first of Spring Training. Alex Rios added
a two-run homer in the third inning for his second homer of the
2010 Spring Training - null

Angels on the mound: Left-hander Joe Saunders struggled in his
first Spring Training outing, allowing five runs on six hits over 1
2/3 innings. Saunders allowed four extra-base hits in his outing and
was removed for right-hander Travis Chick, who promptly allowed a
two-run homer to Beckham on his first pitch of the game. Scot Shields
threw a scoreless inning in his first game appearance since May 26,
2009. Brian Fuentes threw a scoreless inning and Brian Stokes threw
White Sox on the mound:
Jake Peavy was sharp in his first
start of Spring Training, allowing just two hits over three scoreless
innings to go along with three strikeouts. Bobby Jenks certainly
didn't fare as well as Peavy, as he gave up five runs on four hits
while recording just two outs in the fourth inning. Right-hander Tony
Pena didn't allow a hit over 1 2/3 innings.
Prospect Jared Mitchell, the White Sox first-round Draft pick last season, was carted off the field after running into the left-field wall to make a catch. He sustained a tendon tear on the inside of his left ankle and will undergo surgery next week. His recovery and rehab time will be set at that point. ... Peavy had a scare in the first inning when Hunter
hit a line drive that grazed off his jersey and into center field for
a single. Peavy met with catcher A.J. Pierzynski after the play but
waved off the trainers to indicate that he was OK. Peavy shook off the
play and was able to retire Hideki Matsui to end the inning.
Right-hander Ervin Santana will be taking the
mound as the Angels travel to Surprise to play the Royals at Surprise
Stadium for a 12:05 p.m. PT Cactus League game on Saturday. It'll mark
Santana's second start of the spring, as he threw two scoreless
innings against the Rangers on Monday. Right-handers Rafael Rodriguez,
Ryan Brasier and Tommy Mendoza are also scheduled to pitch against
For the White Sox, right-hander Gavin Floyd will be on the hill when
they host the Brewers at Camelback Ranch in a split-squad game on
Saturday at 2:05 p.m. CT. Floyd tossed two scoreless innings with
three strikeouts in his previous start against the Mariners on Monday.
Meanwhile, the White Sox will also conclude their two-game series with
the Cubs in Las Vegas with right-hander Lucas Harrell starting for the
White Sox. Paul Konerko, Mark Kotsay, Juan Pierre, Teahen and Andruw
Jones are among the players who made the trip to Las Vegas.
