Reinsdorf family suffers tragic loss

Moment of silence held at Camelback Ranch in memory of chairman's son

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A moment of silence was held prior to Monday's Cactus League game between the White Sox and Royals at Camelback Ranch in memory of David Reinsdorf, the 51-year-old son of White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who passed away on Monday.

Through a statement from the White Sox, Reinsdorf, his wife Martyl, their children Michael, Jonathan and Susan, and the entire Reinsdorf family expressed their appreciation for the sympathetic thoughts and prayers from all of their friends and acquaintances. The family requested privacy and understanding at this time as they deal with this very personal loss.

"It's tough any time anything on the outside, it just wakes you up for what's important," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "I think it's sad around here just because it's Jerry and how much people care about him and his family. It's a tough day for us."

Funeral services will be private.
