White Sox place Gillaspie on paternity leave list; recall Morel


CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. New York-NL, the Chicago White Sox placed third baseman Conor Gillaspie on the Paternity Leave List and recalled third baseman Brent Morel from Class AAA Charlotte.

Gillaspie, 25, is expecting the birth of his first child. He is eligible to come off the paternity list after one day but can be on for as many as three. Gillaspie is batting .246 (48-195) with five home runs and 18 RBI this season, his first with the White Sox after being acquired from San Francisco on February 22.

Morel, 26, is batting .280 (68-243) with 19 doubles, five home runs, 40 RBI and a .373 on-base percentage in 66 games with Charlotte in 2013. He is a career .230 (136-591) hitter with 13 home runs and 53 RBI over parts of three seasons with the White Sox (2010-12).
