KANSAS CITY -- White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo has headed out for a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.
Viciedo, on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, was hitting .229 through 13 games when he was sidelined with the injury.
"He'll have four or five games there to see how he feels and make sure he's all right," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "He would have to play in the outfield. There were thoughts of him at DH, but he'll be playing left field."
With the White Sox playing sub-.500 baseball, the temptation could be to get Viciedo back as soon as possible. But the club will guard against bringing back Viciedo back too quickly to protect him from aggravating the oblique.
