Bo Jackson, a member of the White Sox 1993 American League West Division championship team, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day at U.S. Cellular Field.

Jackson, arguably the greatest two-sport athlete of all-time, starred on the diamond and the gridiron in the 1980s and 90s. He spent 1991-93 in Chicago, where two of his most famous moments occurred. In 1993, in his first at-bat following replacement hip surgery, Jackson homered against the Yankees at Comiskey Park.

In September of that season, Jackson also blasted a three-run homer against the Mariners in Chicago to help the White Sox clinch the division crown.

Other Opening Day celebrations scheduled for the April 1 opener at 3:10 p.m. CT include the Ponce family singing the national anthem. The group is comprised of Phil Ponce, the Studs Terkel Award-winning host of Chicago Tonight, and his his sons, Anthony (from NBC Chicago) and Dan (from WGN Television and the hit vocal group Straight No Chaser).
