White Sox announce 2013 Spring Training schedule
The Chicago White Sox begin the 2013 spring training season on Saturday, February 23 as the "visiting" team against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch - Glendale (CR-G), the teams' shared ballpark in Glendale, Ariz.
White Sox pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training on February 12, with position players reporting on February 17. Physicals and workouts are scheduled for both days.
The White Sox will play 16 home games at CR-G, including one against the crosstown-rival Cubs (March 15) and the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants (March 4), two against National League Central Champion Cincinnati (March 2 and March 10) and one game against Oakland (March 16), winners of the American League West. The Sox also play the Cubs in Mesa on March 7 and are the visiting team against the Dodgers at CR-G on March 23 (7:05 p.m.).
In addition to Cactus League play, the Sox will host Team USA at CR-G on March 5. Team USA reached the semifinals of the 2009 World Baseball Classic before being eliminated by Japan (2005 and 2009 WBC Champions). Adam Dunn, Jake Peavy and Matt Thornton played for Team USA in 2009.
All Sox home games are scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. (Arizona Time), except for contests on March 15 vs. the Cubs (12:05 p.m.) and March 27 vs. Cleveland (12:05 p.m.).
The Sox exhibition schedule closes with a two-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park beginning on Friday, March 29. The Sox open the 2013 regular season at U.S. Cellular Field on Monday, April 1 vs. Kansas City.
