MINNEAPOLIS -- The White Sox maintained their one-game lead atop the American League Central on Saturday, as they nabbed a 5-3 win over the Twins.

Francisco Liriano looked every bit as good as the pitcher the White Sox hoped they were getting when they traded for him in July. The left-hander held his former club to two runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out nine.

"We're playing pretty good baseball," he said. "We've been pretty focused. We just have to keep playing like that. Anything can happen in baseball, so we just have to play like that until the end."

Magic numbers
To calculate a team's magic number, take the number of games it has remaining and add one. Then subtract the difference in the number of losses between that team and its closest pursuer.

Tiebreaker scenarios
A tiebreaker game will be played to determine a division winner, even if the tied clubs are assured of participating in the postseason. If a division championship tiebreaker is necessary, the head-to-head record between the clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.
