TORONTO -- Kevin Youkilis was back in the White Sox lineup for Monday's series opener against the Blue Jays, batting second and playing third base.
Youkilis was forced to miss Sunday's contest after getting hit in the forearm with a pitch from Oakland's Grant Balfour in the ninth inning of a loss Saturday.
The veteran has also been battling a sore right knee, but told skipper Robin Ventura when he arrived at the ballpark Monday that he was ready to go.
"He's good, he said he was fine," Ventura said. "I think it helped for him to get a little break."
In 38 games with the White Sox since being acquired from Boston, Youkilis is batting .252 with 10 homers, 29 RBIs and an .875 OPS.
Youkilis struggled over his 42 games with Boston, hitting just four home runs while driving in 14, but has been a major boost to the White Sox.
