Team doctors will explore and then correct any issues found in Danks’ left shoulder during the surgery. Danks has been on the disabled list since May 25 (retroactive to May 20) with a left shoulder strain.
Danks, 27, is 3-4 with a 5.70 ERA (34 ER/53.2 IP) and 30 strikeouts over nine starts with Chicago this season. He won his last start on May 19 at the Cubs, allowing just three hits over 6.1 IP. Danks made one injury rehabilitation start on June 12 with Class AAA Charlotte before resuming his rehab program with the team under the supervision of White Sox Head Athletic Trainer Herm Schneider.
Danks is 57-60 with a 4.12 ERA (445 ER/971.1 IP) and 744 strikeouts over 159 career starts with the White Sox (2007-2012). He ranks among the American League left-handed leaders since 2008 in starts (3rd, 133), IP (4th, 832.1 IP), strikeouts (4th, 635), quality starts (4th, 80), wins (5th, 51) and ERA (7th, 3.89).
