Sox-Tigers ready to start after delay

CHICAGO -- A 4:10 p.m. CT start time is now being estimated for the first pitch of Monday's contest between the White Sox and Tigers. The all-important American League Central matchup officially has been delayed for close to three hours by rain, although the game will be played.

Bad weather seems to follow these two teams into Chicago, with contests scheduled for Sept. 12 and 13 previously rained out. Monday's game is a makeup for the Sept. 13 contest, with the White Sox needing to win to force a tie with the Twins atop the AL Central to set up Tuesday night's one-game tiebreaker, which would take place at U.S. Cellular Field at 6:30 p.m. CT on TBS and MLB.TV.

The forecast calls for rain until 5 CT, but that same forecast also shows clear skies from that point forward in the South Side of Chicago. Members of the grounds crew were sweeping water off the tarp, and the game probably will begin in a light rain.

Neither Gavin Floyd nor Freddy Garcia warmed up before the delay, as the tarp was on the field at 11 a.m.
