"We should give him the rest of the trip off, just make sure we give him the right rest," said White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. "We just need to keep him out of the lineup the next couple of days and hopefully he'll be ready on Tuesday [against Cleveland]."
Guillen described Crede as "a little sore," primarily dealing with some residual pain in his left triceps after being hit with a Billy Sadler pitch in the ninth inning of Friday's 2-0 victory. Crede said he could have played Saturday if he had to and didn't expect to miss Sunday's series finale. Guillen, in turn, wants to have his top bats on the field Sunday against Matt Cain, while balance a break for Crede.
"It's not a big deal," Guillen said. "It's just to give him a rest here and there. I think he's doing a tremendous job after his back surgery, and he's been playing almost every day.
"But Crede needs a day off. I just want to get Joe Crede rest."
Crede is 8-for-21 on this current road trip.
